Job Description

Position Summary and Overview

The Churchill School & Center, a K-12 school for students with language-based learning disabilities, is seeking an Upper School occupational therapist for hire beginning August, 2025.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate commitment to Churchill’s mission and core values
  • Embrace and model Churchill’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion 
  • Design, plan, and implement new programs and initiatives to support sensory/self-regulation, motor skill, life skill, and assistive technology needs
  • Work collaboratively with the Upper School team including teachers, other related service providers and specialists to plan and implement services
  • Provide guidance and consultation to teachers to problem solve, make environmental and task modifications and brainstorm solutions for student needs 
  • Support students by providing expert service using various delivery methods
  • Assess student work and participation
  • Communicate with families 
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, department meetings and the IEP process 
  • Seek improved service methods through professional development opportunities
  • Other duties assigned as needed

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have...

  • Candidates are required to have a NYS License 
  • Experience providing occupational therapy services
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to continue higher levels of education to obtain knowledge of effective service strategies and methodologies for working with children with language-based learning disabilities
  • Familiarity with Smartboards, Google Drive, and technology in the classroom
  • Interest in professional career development in the field of occupational therapy
  • Patience, flexibility, creativity, good organization skills, and a sense of humor

Compensation

  • $75K-100K commensurate with experience
