About the Role:
As a TBI Physician, you'll play a vital role in the disability evaluation process for veterans. You'll conduct thorough medical assessments, including evaluations for TBI, meticulously documenting your findings through a web-based system. Your expertise will provide crucial information to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, enabling them to make informed disability determinations. This is a part-time, contract position offering a flexible schedule, including remote and face-to-face exams, based in Norfolk, VA.
What You'll Do:
Review pertinent medical history documentation and provide veterans with one-time, non-treatment compensation and pension exams.
Capture responses during the exam through web-based examination form(s); all documentation will be completed electronically.
Complete exams, which are then sent to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for disability award determinations.
Conduct assessments for TBI, often resulting from motor vehicle accidents, sports injuries, or combat exposure.
Order and interpret diagnostic testing (Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) if clinically indicated, neuropsychological testing referrals, and ancillary tests like X-rays, labs, EKGs, PFTs, ABIs). These tests will be conducted on-site or nearby.
Work independently and as part of a team.
Utilize good interpersonal skills and demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing situations.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
What You'll Bring:
A Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree specializing in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) or Neurology, with experience in evaluating for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
Primary care experience.
An active and unrestricted license in the specialty field of M.D. or D.O.
An active and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Basic computer skills.
