Position Summary

Part of a multidisciplinary team within the Division of Audiology, Department of Otolaryngology. Works under the direction and supervision of a licensed audiologist and is responsible for providing high-quality service to and coordination of patients with hearing aids and cochlear implants throughout the continuum of care. Coordinates office functions and performs specialized/technical duties with minimal supervision.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides assistance during patient appointments with the following: further counseling on items such as hearing aid orientation (insertion/removal of device, use/charging of devices), connectivity between hearing aid devices and patientâ™s personal devices (i.e., cell-phones) and routine hearing aid cleaning.
  • Manages walk-in patient for device repairs and checks independently as well as assists patients on the telephone for device troubleshooting.
  • Works with audiology team to answer and triage patient phone calls, tasks, emails and EPIC InBasket requests across audiology providers/practices.
  • Prepares all documents related to hearing aid and cochlear implant fittings.
  • Monitors and observes the clinical schedule to ensure both audiology and coordinated audiology/otology appointments are scheduled appropriately in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Obtains insurance information/referral forms/orders as appropriate.
  • Verifies hearing aid benefits as appropriate.
  • Oversees the scanning of ear canals during appointments for earmold and hearing aid orders.
  • Maintains the hearing aid and cochlear implant database.
  • Verifies that all payments are entered correctly into EPIC for the audiology division.
  • Coordinates ordering and monitoring of supplies, equipment, mail and related operational services as needed for the Audiology Division.
  • May serve patients to check-in/check-out/schedule appointments.
  • Manages paperwork for all orders and repairs for devices (hearing aids, cochlear implants, osseo-integrated devices, etc.).
  • Manages of the scanning of all miscellaneous paperwork into EMR.
  • Maintains required skills/competencies and participates in in-services, staff programs, continuing education and cross-training programs according to established standards.
  • Prepares custom reports as directed by management.
  • Coordinates staff services, interoffice activities, schedules, programs and related administrative needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
