Job DescriptionThe College of Health and Wellness Professionals at St. Cloud State University invites applications for a Tenure-Track (Probationary) position in Exercise Science/Exercise Physiology in the Department of Kinesiology, Community Health, and Gerontology.A typical faculty workload responsibility may include up to twenty-four (24) credits of instruction per academic year.The successful candidate may need to teach in other areas as assigned and qualified.May be expected to develop and delivery face-to-face, hybrid, and online.The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues in curriculum design instruction and evaluation, conduct, and mentor students in research, help create innovative strategies for student recruitment, retention and completion, and may be expected to develop grant funding opportunities.All faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly or creative activity or research, in continuing preparation and study, in contribution to student growth and development, and providing service to the university and community (See Article 22 and Appendix G of the IFO Master Agreement.This position will assist in the oversight and operations of the Human Performance Lab and the Husky Physical Activity and Wellness Center.The position will advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.The position will supervise work study and graduate assistants.The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate course in areas such as: Introduction to Exercise Science, Foundations of Human Movement, Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, Advanced Cardiopulmonary Physiology, Exercise Testing and Prescription, Electrocardiography, Clinical Exercise Physiology, Clinical Exercise Testing and Prescription, Research Methods, and Clinical Rehabilitation.The position requires actively engaging in scholarship and continued professional development. All university faculty members are expected to participate in service to the discipline, department, university, and the community.Actively support and contribute to Exercise is Medicine® on Campus (EIM-OC) programming, including assisting in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of EIM-OC initiatives. Collaborating with campus and community partners to promote physical activity as a vital sign of health. Facilitating student engagement in EIM-OC events, research, and outreach efforts. Supporting integration of EIM principles into coursework and campus wellness initiatives.Instruct courses in varied locations and at varied times, in-person, online or hybrid and in either a semester or accelerated semester schedule.Minimum QualificationsPhD. in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Health Sciences, or related field (ABD with a confirmed competition date prior to the start of employment will be considered).A minimum of two (2) years teaching at the higher education level in exercise science, exercise physiology, kinesiology, or a closely related field.The successful candidate will demonstrate strong interests and/or abilities to teach courses such as Introduction of Foundations, Foundations of Human Movement, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, Advanced Cardiopulmonary Physiology, Exercise Testing and Prescription, Electrocardiography, Clinical Exercise Physiology, Research Methods, Clinical Exercise Testing and Prescription, and Clinical Rehabilitation.Demonstrated ability to teach at the undergraduate and/or graduate level in both online and face-to-face settings.Demonstrated effective written, oral communication, and/or presentation skills.Currently hold or have potential to obtain professional certifications in ACSM-EP, ACSM-CEP, EIM, PAPHS, or similar industry certifications.Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.Preferred QualificationStudent-centered approach to education and a commitment to helping grow and recruit students to the exercise science and clinical exercise physiology programs.Experience mentoring and supervising undergraduate and/or graduate students in a working environment and/or research.Evidence of scholarly activity, including publications, and/or professional presentations in researchExperience overseeing student practicum and internship experiences.Potential to teach in other areas such as experience in nutrition, public health, health promotion, and strength and conditioning performance.Experience with Exercise is Medicine® on Campus (EIM-OC) programming.Other RequirementsMust be able to teach in-person and online coursesRequired Documents to ApplyResume/CVCover LetterThree (3) Professional References Unofficial Transcripts(Official transcripts will be required at time of employment)Position Information Appointment Type: Probationary/Tenure TrackSalary: Commensurate with experience and qualificationsWork Shift (Hours / Days of work)VariesAboutThe successful candidate will share St. Cloud State?s commitment to our mission, and in particular, the value we place in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as outlined in SCSU?s It?s Time strategic framework.
